What are you most looking forward in this academic year? 

This year, I am looking forward to co-advising the University Programming Board with a member of our residence life staff. Student activities and residence life collaborate on its programming efforts and merge two programming boards into one. We hope that this increases our programming foot print and increases student turnout.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned working in the profession?

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to be honest, truthful, and patient with students. Advising student organizations is so much more than advising the daily activities of a student organization or program. My most memorable students and moments have come from advising students on life. I love to connect with students and help them along their path. 

Describe a memorable day on the job.

Many of my memorable days on the job are days when I meet with the students and they speak about feelings of accomplishment. Some days, a senator has worked really hard to pass legislation or a student programmer may come in to speak about a successful event they planned. It is memorable when students are able to appreciate the journey and process it takes to get certain projects accomplished. 

What is one project or innovation you’re proud to have helped implement?

One project I am proud to implement is Topper Nights. Topper Nights will be our late night and weekend programming initiative. We are working to increase engagement activities for all students through the week. Using assessment data, we will be able to find out what students are interested in attending or participating in.
