An earlier post on shift swapping software or sites got me curious to see if anyone is using anything similar to do weekly or semesterly shift schedules. Do you do it manually or do you have software that you input their availability or preferences and have it magically create a schedule for you? If the latter, what is the name of the software/site you use and do you like it?

Hi Jon-

Schedulesource.com and whentowork.com both provide scheduling systems - we currently use the former but are considering switching to the latter, or pursuing an in-house solution that may be compatible with our campus timekeeping system.

Jon-

We currently use whentowork.com and have no complaints.

Students are issued a login to input their schedule preferences and managers (or schedule makers) make the schedule templates and with the push of a button you can have a schedule!

Some features that I particularly like are the tradeboard and the message/contact board.  Through the tradeboard managers can  post extra shifts and students can post/pickup shifts they are interested in trading or covering.  I really appreciate that it's a web-based program because everyone can check schedules and contact information easily from home - so, no more excuses!

It's very rare that we've needed any support, the site seems to run smoothly and they have a very thorough help page; if you do have to call in they are very helpful.

I think you can do a 30 day full trial with the software, I would encourage you to try it!
