Do you have art displayed in your student union? If so, how do you secure the pieces? What system are you using to mount paintings on walls? How do you select the art to display? Thanks.

All of our art is framed with various colored aluminum channel frames. We've secured these at the top with a fold over piano hinge which hides the hinge when on the wall. At the bottom of the frame, we have two aluminum tabs which secure the bottom of the piece to the wall with tamper proof screws. In the 30 years we've been using this system we have yet to lose a piece. Jim Schuster Director of Viking Union Facilities Western Washington University

We have a variety of pieces in our Union here at the University of Arizona. We have some on loan and others are originals we have acquired from donation, those left behind in art shows (we have a clause that after 30 days after the end of a show, unclaimed artwork becomes our property) and purchased pieces. We aim to have all original (though that doesnt always happen in all the spaces). We have "leashes" that are also barcoded. We anchor a piece to the wall with a "metal strand". You can take the piece off to dust, paint etc, but you dont get more than about 1 ft away from the wall.
