Would love to hear from those unions that stay open past 12 midnight. Give me your building hours and concerns/issues you have encountered, if any. Thanks.

We stay open until 1:00 a.m. on the weekends. We do have a 24 hour area in the building. We have no problems being open later. We have cameras throughout the building, which go directly to our police department. We have a couple incidents, but the cameras have caught the individuals and we have apprehended them and the items taken. I hope this helps.

We are open 6:30am-1:00am Monday-Friday and 9am-1:00am on Sat & Sun.
We have a study lounge on our 2nd floor that is accessible 24/7 with a swipe of the student's MAVcard to access the stairwells or elevator on the north side or south side of the building. We have cameras in the stairwells and in the hallways leading to the lounge. So far our only issue is we have a homeless former student who sometimes hides and stays in the lounge overnight. My building managers find him in the morning.
Otherwise, because we are only closed 5 1/2 hours, it really has not been a problem and I don't think many students are in the building after 1am. I will be pulling those numbers though here soon to see who is accessing the building and when.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Anita,
We are open 24 hours while classes are in session. We don't have many problems becuase we have:
- A Security/Police presence on campus (not in our building, though)
- A student employee who works 1AM-4:30 (Su-Th) and 1AM - 8AM on Fri/Sat nights.
- A private campus where our building is right in the middle of campus (it's hard for townies to get to our building)
We've had a couple of loiterers from the local community, but we just call our police and they take care of it for us.
Our biggest issues are:
- theft of furniture (students "borrowing" stuff for their dorm rooms)
- intoxicated students coming home from the bars at 3-4AM.
We do have a few self-op security cameras that we installed for under $2,000 to keep an eye on our furniture. This helps.
At least one of our food service areas (convenience store or Sbarro) is open until 4AM every day of the week.
Here are our hours: http://lafortune.nd.edu/hours/
If you need more info, just let me know.
