Good Day everyone,

I haven't been a big user of the forum, but hope to get back to it with changes coming up in our facility here at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. With that said, I need some help. Currently in our Commons area we have 4 monitors that we can combine to make one, but the side bevels on each monitor is about an inch, so that puts a 2 in cross between the 4 monitors. My supervisor suggested just getting a large TV, possibly 72 inches and have one monitor on the wall since the 4 really aren't used that often as individual monitors. Does anyone have that size of TV in their unions, or can anyone suggest a good idea for us to go to in the future?

Thanks,
Lincoln

Lincoln,

We have a 65" Sharp HD television in our union.  It is mounted in a little nook which is about 8 feet high.  We have cable going to it and it shows CNN most of the time.  We are working with our IT staff to get our campus digital signage package on it as well, Four Winds Interactive.  Let me know if you want more information.

Harold,

In our renovation we have some "Tower" meeting rooms that let in a lot of light.  We had toyed with installing 80in LED TV's but went with projectors (Contractor owned the projector screens) instead.

When I got quotes for them they were not too expensive for the size. I will give two suggestions

1. TV's this size are BIG! I just installed a 60in Plasma in my house and it too 3 people to get it on the wall! Make sure to get a good installer

2. Make sure you get a commercial grade TV, they can operate 12-16 hours a day compared to consumer grade which are not made as well.

Hope this helps

We have large monitors (50"?) in several places in the building. The photo I am attaching happens to be one that is mounted in an inset behind plexiglass, but the others are all just wall mounted. We also use Sharp 70" displays in all of our multi function rooms (got rid of most of our LCD and screens) except in the largest rooms. We love them!
