You are our future leaders in higher education and the broader, global society, and we want to help you in making the world a better place.
Your involvement in student organizations and on-campus employment offers you firsthand experience in citizenship, leadership, and social responsibility. Our role is to strengthen the learning opportunities available to you, to save you time by connecting you to others with similar goals and challenges, and to present you with additional opportunities and possible career paths. We do this through education, advocacy, and the delivery of services.
About ACUI
ACUI members are students and professionals from hundreds of schools in nine countries whose mission is to build campus community. Our members work in student center facilities, coordinate campus activities, and ensure positive, high-functioning student organizations exist on campus. We continually learn from each other as a diverse group, with members from urban and rural campuses, two-year and four-year institutions, and large and small schools.
We were founded in 1914 by a group of student leaders on campuses in the Midwestern United States. These individuals worked in college unions, which were simlilar to today's programming boards and student government organizations. It was not until many decades later that college unions became associated with those facilities that serve as community centers on campus.
