ACUI's premier student program, the Institute for Leadership Education and Development is a six-day living-learning experience for college students to explore leadership styles, community development, personal values, and their potential to initiate positive change—regardless of position or environment.

Poetry Slam icon

The College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational is an opportunity for campuses with new or existing Poetry Slam programs to compete for top honors, as the only officially licensed collegiate slam. And everyone is enriched by sharing poetry, embracing the value of inclusivity, and supporting a program in which “Everyone’s voice is welcome.”

Clay Target Championships icon

This rapidly growing championship program provides a quality experience for students that teaches them fair play, concentration, logic skills, and enhances interpersonal relationships. This is the only collegiate event featuring all six events: International Skeet and Trap, American Skeet and Trap, five-stand, and sporting clays.

Collegiate 9-Ball Championships icon

One of the longest running programs in the Association’s history, the collegiate 9-ball tournaments allow students to compete competitively on campus, against other schools, and even at the national level. Those interested in participating in this program must first compete in a 9-Ball qualifying tournament and receive an invitation to the championships.

 Table Tennis National Championships icon

 Another long-running recreation and leisure activities program, the table tennis tournaments are designed to contribute to the social, physical, mental, and emotional development of participants. Get invited to the national collegiate championships by first competing in a table tennis regional or qualifying tournament.

UNICEF Campus Challenge icon

 The U.S. Fund for UNICEF partnered with ACUI and the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF for a fundraising challenge on campuses starting in 2008. To date, more than half a million dollars have been raised through this challenge, providing opportunities for college students and professionals to continue their development as effective and aware global citizens.

 Sectional Recreation and Leisure Activities

Each year, ACUI conducts any number of sectional recreation and leisure activities weekends, allowing students to get to know and compete against others from local institutions. The tournaments offered vary based on interest, but generally include bowling, billiards, table tennis, and video games. Some opt to run poetry slam, chess, air hockey, and even table soccer!
