Join the Battle in St. Louis

Are you ready to compete? This year at the annual conference in St. Louis, the Battle of the Regions will get fierce in the final competition with the current regional structure. So, get ready to participate in a variety of events, including some of your old favorites, as well as some new St. Louis twists.

Battle of the Regions events will span over two nights. The main night will be on Monday, March 11 following regional dinners. Events will kick off at 9:30 and will last until after Midnight—plenty of entertainment and networking opportunities for all members. Keep reading below for a short description of each event in this year’s line up!

Arch Building Competition
What is the No. 1 attraction in St. Louis? The arch? That’s right! Discover new perspectives by building your own arch from the bottom up using provided materials. Regional teams of three will compete to see who can build the arch and have it be free standing in the shortest amount of time.

Cupcake Decorating Competition
You've seen various cupcake shows on television. Now's time to show your cupcake prowess in ACUI's newest addition to Battle of the Regions—cupcake decorating! Show that you have what it takes to create a cupcake that is creative, visually interesting, uses materials well, and has consumer appeal. Regional teams of two will decorate one cupcake using the conference theme, “Discover New Perspectives” to be judged for battle of the regions points.

Thinkfast
Come and test your skills at pop culture and ACUI trivia during this year’s trivia challenge! Teams of six from each region will compete in a fun event involving all regions in a fast-pace, action-packed environment. Stop by to help out your team and watch the friendly competition.

Video Poetry Competition
This year, the Battle of the Regions team wanted to showcase ACUI’s premiere program, poetry slam, in a new and unique way. Regions were asked to submit poetry slam videos in advance of the conference. These videos have been judged and the top three finalists will be shown during the ACUI Idol event.

ACUI Idol
An ACUI Battle of the Regions favorite, ACUI Idol brings out the association’s best performers! Each region can have one performer or a group of performers to sing and dance their favorite current or oldies hit. Grab a drink and come enjoy the fun performances until the wee hours of the night!

In addition to the main night of events on Monday evening, the Conference Program Team, in collaboration with the Education and Research Fund Team, will host the first ever Bowling Tournament at Flamingo Bowl. Teams of four will compete for awards including top female and male bowler, highest fundraiser, and best-dressed team. Competition starts at 9 p.m.—all spectators are welcome!

Points will also be given throughout the week for regional members who participate in the FUNd Run/Walk, volunteer while at the conference, and donate Silent Auction items and baskets. Stop by the 100th anniversary booth to see the current standings. Final winners will be announced at the closing banquet on Wednesday night.

Sign ups for participation will take place during the Regional Meetings on Sunday evening. Get ready to compete and cheer on your region for final bragging rights and possession of the Battle of the Regions Trophy!
