Union Construction News – July–September

This update includes projects completed in time for the beginning of the school year. Congratulations to those schools, which are elible to submit their projects for the January Bulletin showcase.





  • Colorado State University–Pueblo hopes to update 1974 Occhiato University Center with increased student facility fee
  • Kent State University approves $2 million to fund renovations of student center built in 1972   
  • Miami University solicits $3.1 million in additional donations to bridge gap between estimated and actual costs of future student center
  • Texas A&M University Foundation raises $10.5 million toward the $125 million project cost of renovating Memorial Student Center
  • Wichita State University students approve tuition increase to fund $33 million renovation to Rhatigan Student Center



  • Baruch College debates with student government over purchase of a building to be used as student center
  • Concordia University Student Union rejects purchase of building, which would be used for student activities, based on proposed university policies   
  • Los Angeles City College student union project faces potential opponent in alumnus athlete  
  • Oregon State University’s student center and union projects delayed by lawmakers  
  • Sonoma State University postpones groundbreaking on student center following controversy over fee increase
