The Conference Management Team: An Insider Perspective

I2011 Conference Management Team have been fortunate to have served on ACUI's Conference Management Team (CMT) for the past two years, and the experience has greatly benefited me both personally and professionally. My network expanded significantly, I developed lasting relationships with both peers and seasoned professionals, and I found that my work in conference management complimented my work on campus in the areas of student activities, orientation, and leadership. My experience on the CMT has been a “go-to” during job interviews, as it allows me to discuss some of the skills and accomplishments of which I am most proud. And because ACUI covers conference registration and hotel costs for the CMT, the experience was extremely financially viable.

Serving on the Conference Management Team is a rewarding volunteer experience I encourage all graduate students to explore. Applications will be available in Fall 2011, so keep your eye out!

As a member and a volunteer thanks to the entire CMT for making my conference experience a great one. A special thank you to Janet Ikpa for all of her hard work on making the ERF events successful in Chicago. We couldn't have done it without your help.
