It's Time to Celebrate Earth Day 2012

Earth Day 2012 is upon us. Campuses across the United States are taking the time to teach students a little more about being green.

The University of Nevada–Reno is already in the midst of its celebration. On Wednesday, students gathered at the Student Union for a dumpster dive to examine just how much trash is tossed that could be recycled or reused. Other planned events include a research symposium and compost demonstration.

Tomorrow kicks off the Earth Day Festival at the University of Massachusetts–Amherst, which will last through Monday. The Campus Center will be a hot spot for activities including a green jobs panel and a showing of “The Last Mountain.” The Student Union serves as the meeting place for those interested in cleaning up the campus.

The Student Center at Southern Illinois University–Carbondale is sponsoring numerous events Monday. These include a Green Fair, where student groups will offer information on green activities on and around campus, and a free bike repair demonstration.

Don’t forget that ACUI offers two resource guides about how to incorporate sustainability on your campus.
