ACUI Procure News
May 1, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, IND. — During the past year, more than 145 institutions—public and private, large and small—have been able to measure the benefit of using the ACUI Procure group buying consortium. Since its inception, ACUI Procure has generated $13 million in sales and has paid $156,000 in rebates to member institutions. ACUI members have earned close to $20,000 in rebates this year. The five largest rebates this year were earned by:

  • University of Vermont – $2,232.32

  • California State University–Dominquez Hills – $1,015.99

  • California State University–Sacramento – $898.96

  • Lincoln University – $855.29

  • William Patterson University – $767.25

ACUI Procure preferred vendors pay a percentage of the collective group purchases back to ACUI Procure to be distributed in the form of a rebate. Even if another campus department makes purchases through ACUI Procure, the rebates are remitted to the dues-paying department. Five companies that have contributed the greatest share to the institutions receiving large rebates this year were:

  • High Point Furniture Industries

  • Mity-Lite Corporation

  • Palmer Snyder

  • QubicaAMF Worldwide

  • Walker Wireless

Besides getting the lowest price on the products purchased, several institutions earned rebates that were more than their annual membership. Others earned enough to contribute a meaningful amount to a campus program. Rebates are accrued on a calendar-year basis.
